Vein Treatments Explained
Veins in the lower extremities (your hips, thighs, legs, ankles, and feet) carry blood from your legs to your heart. Types of veins in the leg include deep and superficial veins. In some people, the valves in the superficial veins don’t work properly, resulting in blood pooling in the legs. This pooling leads to increased pressure, resulting in enlarged, tortuous veins under the skin, called varicose veins.
Varicose veins are large, raised, swollen blood vessels that twist and turn. Symptomatic venous insufficiency and varicose veins can result in leg pain, cramping, heaviness, tiredness, itchiness, and leg swelling. Severe venous reflux can result in skin discoloration, severe swelling, and lower extremity wounds that do not heal well. Varicose veins usually develop in the legs and can be seen through the skin.
Vein Conditions and Treatments FAQs
Minor issues such as a blocked vein or damaged valve can be repaired to some extent through a combination of diet, prescription medicine, and surgery.
A vein usually takes a couple of days to heal.
There are other veins that already direct blood back to the heart, so when the abnormal vein is shut off, the other veins have an easier time carrying the blood out of the leg.
Sclerotherapy is the most common treatment for leg vein issues. Dermatologists have continuously improved sclerotherapy over the years to make it safer and give better results. Sclerotherapy is used to treat varicose veins and spider veins.
Typically, vein treatment will simply be closing a vein or veins using chemicals or radiofrequency that heats vessels to close veins. These procedures are virtually painless, as veins have no nerve endings.

Dr Kafri and his staff are very caring. They are also a full service office that performs almost all the tests that are necessary. I've been having a very particular problem that Dr Kafri is determined to solve. I've been coming here since 2022.
The staff is amazing. They took great care of me and made sure I was comfortable through all my procedures. Felt like the staff really cares about making sure I had the best possible experience. Thank you
Dr. Kafri and his staff are by far the best medical staff I have experienced. The front desk is always so pleasant. I would rate way more than 5 stars if I was able to. Thank you Kafri Heart and Vascular Clinic.
I had a good experience. Everyone was professional and kind. They gave me hope that I can go on hikes and walk my dog again.
I had a great experience with staff and doctor I did not have to wait a long time and the staff was very professional in doing there jobs looking forward to my next visit!
Very professional office setting and staff. As a new patient I was greeted warmly, staff proficiently checked my vitals, EKG, reviewed meds which prepared Nurse Practicioner Kim (who was great -- 5 stars) to review my prious ultrasound, and performed the cardio exam. Kim was effecient, actively listened, was a clear communicator, and addressed my concerns. I highly recommend Dr. Kafri Heart Vascular Clinic.

All the staff were very helpful, patient, and friendly. They were also very accommodating with honoring my request to wait 5 minutes before taking my blood pressure so I could relax a bit to ensure a more accurate blood pressure reading. I REALLY appreciate that! 😊💜
I had a ball with the person who interviewed me, he has a great personality. Dr. Yoa was super and he has a great listening skill. I felt very good about his attention and responses. I left knowing, all about my future care and what's happening now. Way to go all. From the first person, to the last person I spoke with, the staff was the friendly, organized, and the doctor super, so my visit was amazing! Thank you!
